FIEDLER RITES FEBRUARY 13 Memorial services were held Wednesday, February 13, 1974, from the Holt and Wilson Almont Chapel, Canon City, for Theodore R. Fiedler, 30, who died Sunday, February 10, when his plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Fremont County airport at Canon City, where he was manager. Deputy coroner, Bill Holt, stated that as Fiedler's single-engine plane cleared the runway, he started to execute a "barrel roll," but that as the craft was coming out of the roll, it hit the ground. Theodore R. Fiedler was born February 1, 1944. He attended Staunton Military academy, Stanton, Virginia, and the Academy of the New Church, Bryrn Athyn, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the Sixth Fixed Wing and Rotary Wing pilot school at Fort Rucker, Georgia, and served six years in the U.S. Army. He spent two years in Germany and one in Viet Nam and was shot down twice. He was united in marriage with Berna Joe Menge on December 27, 1970 and to this union a daughter, Rachel Suzanne was born December 26, 1972. He is survived by his wife Berna Joe; a daughter, Rachel; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Fiedler, Washington D.C.; a sister, Marlene Dailey, Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, Fred A. Montgomery, Alabama and Franklin T., Denver; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fiedler, Holyoke. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rachel Suzanne Fiedler Educational fund in care of the Freemont National Bank or the First National Bank at Canon City. Graveside rites will be held today (Thursday) at Holyoke Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m.
