More detail on this person: Peter Fry Col. Peter Marshal Fry, 78, of Indiana, passed away Friday, September 24, 2010, at Indiana Regional Medical Center. The son of Willard and Salveig ( Hornbeck) Fry, he was born on February 28, 1932, in Doctors Hospital, New York City. Peter attended Peakskill Military Academy, Johns Hopkins University and graduated from Fordham. A member of the NRA, the Indiana County Bow & Gun Club, adjutant for the MOWW and a director of the Pennsylvania Gun Collectors Association, Pete enjoyed planning and attending gun shows. Other interests included reading, particularly history, and model airplanes. Mr. Fry was proud to have served his country for 21 years in the U.S. Army where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division 'Screamin' Eagles.' He served 2 tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Korea, Germany and various other locations in the U.S. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit Award, the Army Commendation Ribbon, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and a Purple Heart. As a former member of the Porsche Sports Car Club, Peter was involved with auto sales management prior to his 17-year employment with the IUP Finance Division. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Susan (Shick) Fry of Indiana; a son, Chris Fry and wife, Courtney of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Cindy Rife and husband Ken of Lexington, S.C.; Leslie Dolan and husband Jim of Camp Hill, Pa.; and Kim Fry of Annapolis, Md.; two stepdaughters, Annette Lucas of Commodore; Rhonda Yingling and husband, Tom of Cherry Tree; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Janae and Jalissa Rife; Lauren and Corey Dolan; and Brady Fry; and three step- grandsons, Nick, Ben and Zack Yingling. Peter is also survived by his former wife, Ann (Houghton) Fry of Camp Hill. Friends will be received at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home in Indiana on Sunday, Oct. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m. at which time a memorial service with military honors will be held. Pastor Daryl Jeffers will officiate. Interment will be made at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 11394 Rt. 286 E, Clymer, Pa. 15728.
