More detail on this person: Charles George Farnum, 53 of Abingdon CHARLES FARNUM Peoria Journal Star, The (IL) - Thursday, July 15, 1999 PEORIA -- Charles George Farnum III, 53, of Abingdon, Va., formerly of Peoria, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon. He was born Dec. 14, 1945, in Evanston to Charles G. Jr. and Elizabeth W. Farnum. Surviving are his parents; his fiancee, Frances Foster; one daughter, Taylor Farnum; one son, Charles; one brother, James; and one sister, Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Beal. One brother preceded him in death. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he received his master's degree in business administration from the University of Denver. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran with rank of lieutenant. He received the Bronze Star. He was a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club in Bristol, Va., and the Adult Literacy Program. He also was a volunteer math tutor at Abingdon Elementary School. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Center for Psychiatry Counseling and Education, P.O. Box 1443, Abingdon, VA 24212, or to Highlands Education Literacy Program. P.O. Box 2044, Abingdon, VA 24212.
