More detail on this person: I served with a CPT Fantasia or Fan as his friends addressed him, in
the 62 CAC, during 1972. I know he had at least two tours in RVN and maybe three. He "Fan" held
the rank of Captain when I served with him. He lived in the Ft. Dix area at the time of his
death. This information was last updated 05/07/2018

When I served with Fan I was CPT Thomas C Jackson. CPT Fantasia was the best Army pilot I ever
had the pleasure of flying with, I'm writing because I thought his record should reflect all his
tours and his highest rank.

Helicopter pilot killed in crash SOLO
MONS, Md. (AP)-A New Jersey man was killed Friday in a helicopter crash at the construction site of
the lower Patuxent River Bridge. The cause of the mid channel crash is under investigation. Maryland
Marine Police who happened to be on routine patrol nearby pulled Horace L. Fantasia, 27, of Browns
Mills, N.J., and Chris Leniger of Quakertown, Pa., from the wreckage minutes after the Sikorsky S-55
chopper crashed just before 9 a.m. Fantasia, the pilot of the craft, was unconscious when he was
pulled from the frigid water. He died in the intensive care unit of the Patuxent Naval Air Station
Hospital at noon. Leniger, a mechanic for the helicopter, was treated for exposure and released from
St. Marys County Hospital in Leonadtown.
