More detail on this person: Timothy Forte PALM COAST Timothy Paul Forte, 49, of Clearview Court South, the executive consultant and director of the Office of Aviation Safety at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, died Wednesday in an automobile accident on Interstate 95 near Ormond Beach. Mr. Forte, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War who served as a pilot, was born in Philadelphia and came to this area in 1989 from Washington, D.C. After working as a civilian instructor pilot for the Department of Defense from 1974 to 1978, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. He became director of the NTSB Office of Aviation Safety and served as regional director of the FAA Great Lakes Region, manager of the FAA Western Region Flight Standards Division and as an air carrier certification specialist in the Washington headquarters and regional office of the FAA. He also chaired the ERAU Safety Council, and while on sabbatical from the NTSB in the past, served as director of the university's Center for Aerospace Safety Education. As a member of the faculty, he taught courses in psychology and human factors. He held an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with numerous category and class ratings and received many civilian and military awards for his pilot service, including the Bronze Star, Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters. Pursuing a doctorate degree in education from George Washington University, Fairfax, Va., at the time of his death, he possessed a bachelor's degree in psychology from LaSalle College, Philadelphia, and a master's degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Karen; four sons, Jason Forte, Enid, Okla., and Christopher, Michael and George Faris, all of Palm Coast; his mother, Mildred Forte, Palm Coast; a brother, Anthony, Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Jo Ann Cunningham, New York City. Memorial donations may be made to the Timothy Forte Scholarship Fund, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, c/o Laura Porter, Office of Development, 600 S.
