More detail on this person: Bill Warren Fugit,
born July 27, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas to Cecil and
Price Fugit, died Sunday, May 10, 2015 after a
lengthy illness. After graduation from Kansas
State University with a B.S. in business, he
entered Officer Candidate School, serving as
Captain for the U.S. Army, flying helicopters in
the Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous
medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross
and the Air Medal with the 20 Oak Leaf Clusters.
Bill is survived by his wife of 19 years, Linda;
children, Kelly Summers and husband, Jerrod,
Ashley Fugit, Jay Stinson and wife, Alli and
Manning Stinson; grandchildren, Tyler and Faith
Summers, Madeleine, Hannah and Bennett Louise
Stinson; sister, Jacque Gharst and husband,
Dennis. We are so grateful for the love and
faithfulness of our friends and church family.
These wonderful people kept vigil for two and a
half years as the disease caused by Agent Orange
ravaged his body. He will forever remain our hero,
a gentle soul whose humility and grace gave us
strength. We also want to give special thanks to
those individuals who provided love and support
for his daily needs, Yvette, Keisha, Tyra, Pat,
Amanda, Christine, Laura and a special thank you
to Reverend Patrick Gahan whose weekly visits
both inspired and delighted Bill. A memorial
service celebrating Bill's life will be held at
Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Place on
Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at
Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Saturday,
May 23, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the
Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas, 205
W. Olmos Drive, San Antonio, TX 78212.
