More detail on this person: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Captain Ronald Ross Gresham at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville. Ron, as he was affectionately known, was 78 when he entered eternal rest on September 3, 2022 at his residence in Youngsville, while surrounded by his loving family. The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of services at 2:00 PM at Martin and Castille's SOUTHSIDE location, 600 E. Farrel Rd., Lafayette, LA 70508. A recitation of the rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Martin & Castille's SOUTHSIDE location. Entombment will be held in St. Anne Cemetery Mausoleum. Reverend Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice will be the celebrant of the mass. Those left behind to cherish Ron's memory are his loving wife of 42 years Amelie Touchet Gresham, his daughter Laurie; his son Chad and wife Miranda; his sister Sandra Hindelang (Dr. Michael Hindelang, Jr.); his brother Michael Gresham (Marianna); grand children Layla and Layton Bourque, Mia, Lincoln, and Haddie Williams; his mother-in-law, Mabel Gary Touchet and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, William Ross Gresham and Beatrice DuBernard Gresham; his father-in-law Eluse Touchet; and his brother-in-law James Hyde. Ron joined the US Marine Corps after graduating from Teurlings High School in 1961. Thereafter, he joined the Army graduating from US Army Helicopter flight school 1967. He said, "I just wanted to fly so I volunteered for a second tour in Vietnam". He continued his military service, both in the California National Guard and Louisiana National Guard, retiring after 20 years of service as an Army Aviator with thirty-five Air Medals and two Bronze Stars. Ron loved his country and served his community with honor and random acts of kindness. His love for people led him to careers in oilfield sales and health insurance. He was a member of the VFW, US Marine Corp League, UL Alumni Association and The Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. Upholding the honor of pallbearers will be Layton Bourque, Lincoln Williams, Ross Gresham, Blake Latiolais, Mike Hindelang, and Dean Gresham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Gresham, Dr. Michael Hindelang, Jr. and Brock Hyde. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Ron to St Anne New Church Expansion Fund, 201 Church Street, Youngsville, Louisiana 70592. Checks can be made to St. Anne Catholic Church with "New Church Construction" written in the memo.
