More detail on this person: Ronald R. Garner Ronald R. Garner, age 74, a longtime Concord Township resident, and formerly of Painesville, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township. He was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Cleveland. Ron worked for Lubrizol Corporation as a supervisor of materials handling for 35 years, until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Garner was a U.S. Army helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, receiving two Distinguished Flying Cross Medals. Prior to the Army, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ron was a Mentor High School Class of 1955 graduate. Ronald is survived by his wife, Barbara L. (Abplanalp) Garner; sons, Richard Garner of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Robert Garner of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rendell Garner of Concord Township; nine grandchildren,; three great-grandchildren; brother, Otis (Barbara) Garner of Painesville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Helen Garner; sister, Barbara Lekowski; and nephew, Jimmy Loomis. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, where the family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday.
