More detail on this person: GORDON D. GESELL GESELL, Gordon D., 77, a resident of Hope Hull, AL passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Baptist East Hospital. He leaves behind in precious and cherished memo-ries his wife, Karen Gesell of Hope Hull; a daughter, Sandra Jean Rose of Sidney, OH; three sons, Gordon David Gesell of Sidney, OH, William Albert Ge-sell and Carl Eugene Gesell, both of Louisville, OH; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was pre-ceded in death by a sister, Ruth Mable Gill; two brothers, Rev. William Abraham Gesell and Carl Frederick Gesell and a son, Charles A. Gesell. Gordon enlisted in the Army on Febru-ary 1, 1949 in Sidney, OH and took basic training at Ft. Knox, KY with further training and as-signments in the Signal Corps through September 1954. From November 1954 through May 1969 he was with Army Avia-tion, including three years with the White House Staff (1959 - 1961) and the Pentagon. Passengers on his flights in-cluded such dignitaries as President Dwight D. Eisenhower and President John F. Kennedy. He served overseas in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Germany, France and Lebanon. He also served at Ft. Monmouth,NJ, Ft. Mead, MD, Ft. Sill, OK, Ft. Eustis and Ft. Belvoir, VA, Ft. Benning, GA, Ft. Rucker, AL and Hunter A.A.F. in GA. He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, ADM (Japan), UNSM, KSM, VSM with 2 bronze stars, VOM with 60 device, SR AR AV 80's and NDSM with 1 oak leaf cluster. He retired in May 1969 at Hunter A. A. F., GA as Chief Warrant Officer with a Class 4 Status, which is the highest rank. After retirement from the Army, Gordon worked for and retired from AT & T in Montgom-ery, AL. Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Visitation will be from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. on Wednes-day prior to the service.
