More detail on this person: Major General ORLANDO E. GONZALES, U.S. Army (Ret.) passed away on November 1, 2015 at the age of 84 at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital with his family by his side. Loving husband of Maye, father of Maurina Gonzales and Jema Cooper, brother to Sarah DeLorenzo and Bernadine Gayet, grandfather to Laurel Fisher, Alyssa Klinksiek, Matthew and Alexandra Cooper, and great-grandson Lucius Fisher. He is preceded in death by his daughter JoAnn Gonzales and brother Leo Gilbert Gonzales. Orlie was born on December 20, 1930 in Model, CO. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 and served for 35 years before retiring as a Major General in 1986. A Master Aviator, he served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts and ran many major military commands throughout his career. Family will receive friends at a visitation on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314. A public celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015, also at Demaine's.
