More detail on this person: Francis "Frank" James Gannon, Jr., 81, beloved and devoted husband of Emme Gannon, died Saturday, December 14, 2019. Born in Rock Island, IL, he was a son of the late Francis and Genevieve Gannon. He was a faithful member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. He proudly served his country in the US Army for eight years, two of which were served as a search and rescue helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. Frank was also a business owner where his honesty and integrity earned him a reputation in the food service industry. He was a humble man who did great things. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Michael, and Terry. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Emme Gannon, he is survived by a daughter, Terri Lee Takacs (Frank); a son, Francis James Gannon, III; four grandchildren, Jaclyn Le Blanc (Brian), Cheri Rizio (Tony), Ashley Rae Lister (Kyle) and Frank David Takacs; 6 great grandchildren; special cousins, Rev. Dr. John Krahn (Doris) and Jane L. Kerr (Kerry), and a brother-in-law, Jack Hiss. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with the funeral service following at 4:00 p.m. A military burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1601 N Pleasantburg Dr., Hwy. 291, Greenville, SC 29609.
