More detail on this person: Marvin E. Gordon Marvin E. Gordon (Flash), Retired Lieutenant Colonel, 80, was born on July 27, 1927 in Canal Fulton, Ohio to Alva Ray and Opal Iva Gordon. Flash passed away January 5, 2008 of cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Jean (Sally) Vernon. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Flash was blessed with a loving wife, 2 children, 6 step-children, 2 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grand-children. During a twenty-six year career in the military, of which he was very proud, Flash received many awards and decorations. In 1951, he graduated from OCS as a Second Lieutenant. He earned his Master Jump Wings in 1955. He was then recruited to the first overseas unit of Special Forces (Green Berets.) . After serving in Korea and Vietnam, he was Commander of Libby Army Air Field in Fort Huachuca, Arizona from which he retired in 1976. He then went to realtor school and had a long association with Ranch Realty. Flash is survived by his wife, Marietta, two children, Steven and Genevieve; one brother, Melvin, of Akron, Ohio, and many other family members and friends. Services will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Shea and 84th St. at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangements are entrusted to Messenger Mortuary.
