More detail on this person: CW4 (US Army, Retired) Benny "Ben" Graves, age 84, of Cottonwood, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 20, 2021 at Signature Healthcare in Graceville, Florida, following an extended illness. Funeral services, with Military Honors being presented for Mr. Graves, will be held at 11am Friday, January 22, 2021, in the Family First chapel with Reverend Phillip Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Madrid Baptist Church cemetery. Mr. Graves was born May 4, 1936 in Geneva County to the late William and Carrie Mae Holloway Graves. He honorably served our great nation as a member of the US Army, serving two terms in Vietnam and was a helicopter pilot before he received an honorable discharge and retired after 26 years of service. Mr. Graves enjoyed spending his days sitting on the back porch, smoking his pipe. He was a member of Madrid Baptist Church, where he also formerly served as a Deacon. In addition to his parents, Mr. Graves in preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karrie Price; two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Hayes Graves of Cottonwood; a daughter, Kim Bee of Stockbridge, GA; a son, Kip Graves of Yuma, AZ; a sister, Louise Harris of Slocomb. In addition, he is survived by three grandchildren, Jessica Bee, Brennan Graves, and Brianna Graves, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
