More detail on this person: Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Crestwood Cemetery for Johnny Gann, 69, who died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015. Chaplain Matt Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services. Mr. Gann was a retired U.S. Army veteran, having served over 23 years. He served his country honorably as a pilot and became an instructor training helicopter pilots for the entirety of his career. He retired as a chief warrant officer third class. He served in Vietnam, Korea, Thailand and numerous stateside assignments. He received numerous awards and decorations from both the U.S. Government and foreign countries for his actions and service.

He was a craftsman and so much of a perfectionist that it was comical to his family. He could build or fix anything and loved fishing. He was a 1963 graduate of Southside High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margie Gann; and sister, Susan Freeman.

He is survived by children, Carol Rintamaa, John (Denise) Gann and Kelly (Matt) Clark; grandchildren, Sam Rintamaa, Jack Rintamaa, Brice Moyer, Sarah Moyer, Frances Gann; brother, Edwin (Kay) Gann; nieces and nephews, Barbara Gann, Jimmy Gann, Ami French, Steve Freeman and Ric Freeman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Etowah County Humane Society.

The family will meet friends graveside at Crestwood Cemetery at 2 p.m. today.
