More detail on this person: Joseph Francis Golinski, Jr., 68, of New Smyrna Beach passed away
Wednesday, January 18, 2017 with his family by his side.
Joe was born December 31, 1948 at 8:07 PM to the late Joseph and Patricia Golinski, Sr. in Troy, NY.
After high school graduation Joe joined the US Army and served as a helicopter pilot during the
Vietnam Era.
When he returned home he married the love of his life, Mary Grace LaRoss on June 3, 1972. They
moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1974 for Joe to further his education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. One of Joe's
favorite pastime was baseball. He loved to play it, watch it and coach it. Joe coached the
Embry-Riddle baseball team 1978 - 1980 and coached Bethune-Cookman College baseball team from
1984-1985.
He spent 15 years at the US Postal Service and retired in 2000. Joe will be remembered for his
patriotism, being a stickler for details and love for his family. He was also a member of the
American Legion Post #270, Port Orange.
Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Colene Nicastro in 2014. He is survived by his loving
wife of 44 years, Mary Grace; son, Joseph, III and his wife, Amy (Gremillion) of Greenville, SC;
grandchildren, Whitney, Logan, Cody, Braden, Blair; brother, John of Ballston Lake, NY and sister,
Joann Leonard of Quebec City, Canada.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 5-7PM, Sunday at Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place, 1
N. Causeway, New Smyrna Beach. Funeral Services will be 11AM, Monday at First Baptist Church, 200
Faulkner Street, New Smyrna Beach with interment to follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens. Friends
are welcome to join the family back at the church for a reception after the interment.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University athletics
