More detail on this person: Gordon B Gruber Gordon B. Gruber, 66, a native of Westport, Conn., and a resident of Robertsdale, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011. He served in the U.S. Army serving two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He was an air traffic controller, retired and traveled with his wife "RVing" before settling in Robertsdale. He was a wonderful husband, a great dad and terrific "Poppie" to his grandkids. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Peggy J. Gruber of Robertsdale; daughter, Jessica R. Hardy of Naperville, Ill.; son, Max D. Gruber of Maui, Hawaii; two brothers, twin Charles A. Gruber of Lawrence, Kan., and Harris E. Gruber of Rhode Island; sister, Sara B. Egol of San Jose, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Devyn C. Gruber and Cameron D. Gruber. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3 from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home with the Rev. Jason Smith and Chaplain Cindy Still officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be at 11:45 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS, Pensacola, Fla. The family requests memorial donations be made to Women's Medical Center, or the Summerdale Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Robertsdale.
