He is survived by: His wife of 57 years, Barbara Jean Gess; 7 children, William R. Gess, Angela G. Smith (Mike), Tammy Harris, Terrence Gess, Tony Gess, Aaron Gess, and Sharon Gess; his mother, Erna Mae Gess; 3 sisters, Delores Kemp, Anna Galbreath (Charles), and Karen Gess; 1 brother, John Gess (Shannon) ; 7 grandchildren, Ollie "Roman", Jamie, Melanie, Jasmine (John), Brandy, Tyia, and Kayla; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 from 2 P.M. until 6 P.M. at The Peoples Funeral Home Chapel, 500 Fonville St Tuskegee, AL 36083.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 16 at 11 A.M. from Washington Chapel A.M. E. Church, 2508 W. Montgomery Rd., Tuskegee Institute, AL 36088, with Rev. Andrew T. Holtz, Jr. Pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 Hwy 165, Ft. Mitchell, AL, with The Peoples Funeral Home directing.
