More detail on this person: Alphonso "Al" Gooden Alphonso 'Al' Gooden, 72, of Savannah passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2012 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Althea Green. Formerly of Charleston, South Carolina, Alphonso attended public schools of Charleston and was an honors graduate of Burke High School. He received a BA degree from South Carolina State University. He served in the US Army (Aviation Vietnam 1962-1972),received Air Medal, and retired as a Major. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Savannah Gent's Socio-Civic Club, and the Blazers Socio-Civic Club. He was employed at Critz Buick, Saturn of Savannah and Grainger Honda where he retired in 2009. Funeral August 11 at St Phillip Monumental A.M.E. Church with Rev George Monroe officiating. Sidney A Jones and Campbell Funeral services handled the arrangements.
