Robert Guillotte American Press (Lake Charles, LA) - Friday, February 20, 2004 ANDALUSIA, Ala. - U. S. Army retired Lt. Col. Rob-ert Leon Guil-lotte, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, in his home. Born and raised at the Sulphur Mines, he graduated from Sulphur High School in 1948, and from McNeese in 1953, with a degree in zool-ogy. Married in 1953, he attended LSU School of Medicine. He received an Army commission as a second lieu-tenant and trained as an Army aviator. During his almost 21 years of service, his tours of duty included Korea, Germany and Viet-nam (1966-1967 ). Lt. Col. Guil-lotte graduated from the Army's Command, General Staff College and Army War College. Flying helicopters with the famous " Little Bears " in Vietnam, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal and Air Medal (with 13 Oak Leaf clusters ). His last duty assignment before retir-ing in 1974 was a professor of military science at McNeese State University, ROTC Department. Lt. Col. Guillotte spent the next 20 years as an insurance agent with Pan American Assurance Company. Return-ing to his aviation roots in 1994, he had been operations manager for the past 10 years at the Andalusia-Opp Regional Airport in Alabama. He is survived by his former wife of 38 years, Hope Guillotte of Moss Bluff; four sons, Rob Guillotte (Gail) of Moss Bluff, Bill Guillotte (Teresa) of Bryant, Ark., and Scott Guillotte (Nikki) and Brandon Guillotte, all of Andalusia; three daughters, Joy Lynn Lisemby (Joel) of New Edinburg, Ark., Maleia Campbell of DeQuincy, and Laurianne Guillotte of Moss Bluff; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Elgene Vennisat (Charles ), and Brenda Chap-man (Bill ), all of Sulphur; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant son, Steven Paul Guillotte; parents, Victor J. and Clau-dia Guillotte; and sisters, Dorothy Riggs and Janice Busch. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Farquhar Henning Cemetery of Carlyss. Visita-tion is from 1 p.m. today with rosary at 7 p.m.
