More detail on this person: RAYMOND GEBHARDT PEKIN -- Raymond "Gene" Gebhardt, 61, of 2104B Brookview Terrace, formerly of Asheville, N.C., died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 1993, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Born May 14, 1932, in Pekin to Andrew and Mary Jackson Gebhardt, he married Marion Taylor on June 12, 1955, in Normal. She survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Catherine Scales of Pekin and Mildred Neulinger of Manito; two brothers, Norman and Donald, both of Pekin; and two sons, Kurt James of Guam and Todd Andrew of Houston. One brother preceded him in death. He was an Army aviator, retiring in 1978 as a lieutenant colonel. He served one tour in Korea, two tours in Vietnam, two tours in Germany and one tour in Washington, D.C. He was department head of the ROTC and taught at Erwin High School in Asheville, N.C., for 12 years. He was a member of the Pekin Duck Carvers Association. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin. Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. R. David Goodell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., where full military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
