More detail on this person: JERRY GRIFFEN Jerry Griffen, 48, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 1995, in Jacksonville, N.C. Jerry Lee Griffen was born July 31, 1947, in Baudette, the son of Robert and Bernice (Drussell) Griffen. He grew up in the area and graduated from Baudette High School in 1965, then attended college in Rainy River, Minn., and Bemidji. He joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and was trained as a helicopter pilot. He was a warrant officer and served in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971. After his discharge, he returned to Baudette, where he worked as a guide on the lake and operated Griff's Inn, a local pizza restaurant. He married Beverly Hansen May 14, 1976, in Baudette. He worked for Imperial Helicopters out of St. Paul, Command Helicopters of Chicago and was manager of the helicopter department of Gold-Kist Corp. in Mexico City, Fla., at the time of his death. He is survived by daughters, Hollie Griffen, Wilmington, N.C., and Heidi (Mrs. Mark) Roberson, Winston-Salem, N.C.; sons, Justin and Michael, both of Mexico Beach, Fla.; mother, Baudette; brother, Thomas, Baudette; sister, Cheryl (Mrs. John) Spaeth, Plymouth, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, in 1990. Memorial services:10 a.m. Wednesday in Helgeson Funeral Home, Baudette. Military honors will be performed by the Baudette American Legion-VFM Ceremonial Team. Burial:Elm Park Cemetery, Baudette.
