More detail on this person: Richard James Haggerty Richard James Haggerty, 73, of Charlevoix, died July 21, 2001, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Richard was born May 27, 1928, in Charlevoix, the son of Jerry and Hazel (Shearer) Haggerty. He was a pilot and the owner of R.J. Helicopters. Richard retired from the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association, and was an FAA Helicopter Flight Examiner and CF1 Helicopter. Richard was loved by a special friend, Dianne Rose Skinner. Other survivors include his children, George Kevin Haggerty of Arizona, Julie Marie Emerson of Redford, Richard James Haggerty Jr. of South Lyon, and Michael Daniel of White Lake; one sister, Margaret Haggerty, of Charlevoix; one brother, Daniel Haggerty, of Charlevoix; and four grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 24, at Casterline Funeral Home in Northville. Pastor Steven Brown of Parkview Baptist Church in Livonia officiated. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Undine Cemetery, Hayes Township, Charlevoix. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to the charity of choice.
