More detail on this person: Myles Douglas Henry, 77, died August 15, 2021, at Valley Hospice Steubenville after a brief illness. He was born July 25, 1944, in Steubenville, the son of the late Myles Thomas Henry and Eleanor Ruth (Palmer) Henry. Myles was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson Union High School and a 1966 graduate of Indiana University (Bloomington), where he was a distinguished military graduate (ROTC) with flight training. He was a Cobra (helicopter) gunship pilot with the First Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam (1967-1968), at which time he received the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He retired from the U.S. Army/National Guard after 20 years service, and from Weirton Steel Company after 39 years. Myles's memberships include the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, the VFW Post 2716, the First Cavalry Division Association, and the Toronto American Legion Post 86 (Adjutant). His volunteer services included the American Red Cross and picking up litter at the Park & Ride at the bottom of State Route 213 and along State Route 7. Myles is survived by his twin sons, Justin Henry of Steubenville, Brett Henry of Ottawa, Illinois; their mother Hollister Ferrier of Saint Augustine, Florida; granddaughter Isabella Rose Martin of Steubenville and her mother Mary-Elizabeth Martin; sister Karen Henry of Steubenville; brother Daniel J. Henry (Kathleen) of Steubenville. He is also survived by his favorite nieces and nephew: Anne (Henry) DeCesare, Jessica (Henry) Breon, and Keith Henry; and his favorite great nephew and nieces Maverick, Kaylee, and Abby DeCesare, and Lindsey Breon. He also very much liked the Brilliant Henrys including first cousin Todd and his children Maria, Aaron, Kate, and Chris; the Jefferson County Banovskys including first cousin Michael (Bino) and his sons Buck, Jeb, and Cy; and finally, the Pleasant Hill Palmers including first cousins Erik and Donald and their sons and daughter Gage, Michael, and Emily. Visitation for Myles will be held Saturday, Aug. 21 from 11 am to 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. A funeral service for Myles will follow at 1 pm. Military Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Post 86 Honor Guard. Burial will be held in the Union Cemetery in Steubenville at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice/ 10686 State Route 150/ Rayland, OH 43943 or to the American Legion Post 86/ 415 Market Street/ Toronto, OH 43964.
