More detail on this person: Jack was born on Feb. 25,1939 in Riverside CA. His family moved to Bloomington, IN when he was a boy. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Business Finance. He is a Lifetime member of the IU Alumni Association. He entered the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant, Cavalry in 1960. After serving as an Armored Tank officer, he was sent to Army Flight School at Ft. Rucker, AL. Jack then served in Vietnam as a senior aviator/Instructor pilot in both rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft.While serving in the 52nd Aviation Battalion based at Camp Holloway, Pleiku, Vietnam; he was awarded the Air Medal with 11 Oak Leaf Clusters. Jack also achieved Senior Aviator status. He left the Army in 1965, returning to Bloomington, IN to work with his father at the family business, Civic Newcomer, and later with Northwestern Mutual Life. He then worked with California Pellet Mill Company for over 30 years, serving in a variety of positions, becoming manager of sales & marketing with global responsibilities. He served on the Board of Directors for the California Grain & Feed Association, as well as the Board of Directors of the American Feed Industry. Jack was active in the California Army National Guard. He served as Senior Warden and Junior Warden of the Episcopal Church in Modesto, Calif. Jack is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Barbara Craig Hilliker; sister, Jill; brother, Chic; five loving children; twelve grandchildren; as well as six great grandchildren. A committal service with full military honors will be held 12:30pm on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Sarasota National Cemetery; 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. A reception will follow.
