More detail on this person: Retired Major John W Hood of Stephens City, VA, passed away on 30 May, 2015, surrounded by his wife, Milly Hood, their seven children and their families. Born on 19 December, 1936, he was a two tour Vietnam War veteran and retired railroader. John was devoted to his family, his faith and his music. He was preceded in death by his father, Crawmer Hood, his mother, Edith Jackson Hood Germroth, and his brother, Bob Hood. He leaves behind his wife, Milly Hood, his son, Andy Hood (spouse, Bev Hood) , his daughters, Deb Medcalf (spouse, Todd Medcalf) Stephens City, VA,, Laura Seitler (spouse, Brad Seitler) Littlestown, PA and Beth Hood Winchester, VA, his step sons Bobby (spouse, Kim Shives) Harpers Ferry, WV and Brad Shives (spouse, Tammy Shives) Smithsburg, MD, and his step daughter, Karen Shives Stephens City, VA. In addition, he leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. As his final act of helping to educate others, John wished to have his body donated to science. A memorial service will be held for him at 3:00pm on Friday, 5 June, 2015, at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Stephens City, VA.
