Haupt of Germantown, MD; brother of Bruce J. Haupt of Gainesville, GA and the late Clarann Clingan and the late Gretchen Chamberlain; grandfather of Bryce, Logan, Shannon, Connor, Ryan, Kyle, Kristen, Grayson and Elise Haupt. Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr., Alexandria, VA on Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 5800 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA on Friday, March 23 at 11 a.m. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Contributions, in remembrance, may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

He was a helo pilot onboard the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) from 67-69 in Vietnam. Hence the Call sign in Vietnam JUMPIN JIMA.
