More detail on this person: Jesse A. Hines, 72, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2017. He was born May 9, 1945 in Buffalo, Kentucky, to parents, Bill and Helen Hines. Jesse retired to the Florida sunshine after a successful 30 year career as a Human Resource Executive with Osram Sylvania. He was a graduate of Larue County High School and Western Kentucky University. Jesse was proud to serve his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army and helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. He earned a Silver Star in addition to numerous other medals and commendations. He enjoyed driving his Yellow (Not Red) Corvette and participating in many activities with the Corvette Club. Other favorite interests included baseball games, cruises, gift giving, and family activities. His favorite title became Poppa when his first grandchild was born and his joy grew as each additional grandchild arrived. In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his beloved uncle and mentor, Pete Hines. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, the former Bennye Pepper; son, Brad (Gina ) Hines and grandchildren, Valerie-9, Natalie-8, Vincent-6, Angela-3, and Celia-1 Hines, all of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; siblings, Pam (Jim) Owen, Carolyn (Gary) Farris, and Diana (Steve) Perkins; niece, Kelley Farris and nephew, Christopher Perkins. Jesse is also survived by numerous Pepper relatives whom he claimed as his own family. A private memorial service with military honors will be held in September with interment at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.
