More detail on this person: Johnie Lee Houston, Sr Johnie Lee Houston, 69, of Spring City, TN, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013. He was the son of the late Onas Grant and Reva Pauline Houston and was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jean Houston. Johnie was a veteran helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army and served as a Chief Warrant Officer. He served in both Korea and Vietnam and was a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. Survivors include his three sons, John (Lynda Gayle) Houston Jr., of Bell Buckle, Rhey (Jennifer) Houston, of Ooltewah, TN, Christopher (Machelle Grace) Houston, of Spring City, TN; five grandsons, Joshua, Jacob, Noah and Harley Houston and Jeremiah Hillis; six siblings, Rhey Houston, Pauline Brown, Suzie Eagle, Kenny Houston, Rick Houston, Oma Houston; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Brother John Houston Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military rites being conducted. The family will receive friends from 5 8 p.m. today and from noon 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ, 1701 Green Lane, Shelbyville, TN 37160.
