Hoskins, age 77, of Madison, Indiana entered this
life on June 5, 1938 in Madison, Indiana. He was
the son of the late, Walter Raymond and Ora
Frances Barnes Hoskins. He was a 1956 graduate
of Madison High School in Madison, Indiana. He
attended University of Southern California and
received a degree as an electrical engineer. Owen
Lee was inducted into the United States Army
during the Korean War and served in the Signal
Division and Missile Command. On January 22,
1966 Owen Lee was united in marriage to Nedra
Joy Turner in Pendleton, Indiana. They would be
blessed to raise fours sons, Steve, Chris, Donald
and Andrew. He served for the next twenty years,
seven months and twelve days and rose to the rank
of Captain. He was a helicopter pilot during the
Vietnam War where he encountered Agent Orange.
Owen Lee was honorably discharged on November
25, 1975 from Fort Gordon, Georgia receiving the
National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviator
Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze
Service Stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal
(Korea), Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal
with 14th OLC, Silver Star Medal, Purple Heart,
Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Bronze Star
Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army
Commendation Medal, Armed Forces Reserve
Medal with X Device. After his service to his
country he began working with the Office of
Personnel Management at the Jefferson Proving
Ground serving as Provost Marshal and Director of
Law Enforcement and then with the Department of
Economic Social Affairs in Albuquerque, New
Mexico as a Special U.S. Marshal. He resided in
New Mexico until 2000 and they moved to Bonita
Springs, Florida moving back to Madison 11 years
ago. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting,
fishing, playing golf, and being with his
grandchildren. Owen Lee was a member of the
Madison VFW Post 1969, Jefferson Post 9 of the
American Legion, Solomon Lodge No. 1 F. & A.M.
in Savannah, Georgia and the Macedonia Baptist
Church. Some of Owen Lee's proudest moments
were at Flight School at Fort Wolters, Texas,
Kirtland Air Force Base and Hunter Army Airfield.
Owen Lee was a proud Veteran, devoted husband,
loving dad and grandpa. Owen Lee died on Friday,
May 6, 2016, at 7:09 p.m. at the King's Daughters'
Hospital in Madison, Indiana from exposure to
Agent Orange.

his loving wife of 50 years, Nedra Joy Turner
Hoskins of Madison, Indiana; his loving sons,
Steve L. Hoskins and his wife, Sherry of
Pendleton, Indiana, Chris L. Hoskins and his wife,
Petra of Germany, Donald R. Hoskins and his wife,
Kirsty of Denver, Colorado, Andrew J. Hoskins and
his wife, Carrie of Madison, Indiana; his loving
grandchildren, Shay Rothstein (Mac), Shawn
Hoskins, Steven Hoskins, Tom Hoskins, Wyatt
Hoskins, Chase Hoskins & Megan Hoskins; his
adoring great grandson, Owen Max Hoskins; his
sisters, Ruth Ann Hoskins Briley- Collins and her
husband, Mel of Atlanta, Georgia, Louis Lyons of
Madison, Indiana, Pauline D. "Polly" Wehner and
her husband, Harlen of Madison, Indiana; his
sister in laws, Carol Hoskins of Batesville,
Indiana, Jeanette "Jan" Hoskins of Cincinnati,
Ohio; his uncle, Ted Hoskins and his wife, Linda
of Indianapolis, Indiana; several nieces, nephews
and other relatives. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Walter Raymond Hoskins and Ora
Frances Barnes Hoskins, his brothers, Donald
Russell Hoskins, MIA on April 26, 1972, and Walter
Nelson Hoskins died November 6, 2005.
FUNERAL CEREMONY: Funeral services will be
conducted Sunday, May 15, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at
the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel,
1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans
Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road in
Madison, Indiana.
VISITATION: Friends may call Sunday from 12:00
Noon - 2:00 p.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial
Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in
Madison, Indiana.
FULL MILITARY HONORS: Full military honors will
be presented by the Ceremonial Unit from Fort
Knox and Jefferson Post 9 of the American
Legion.
MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS: Memorial
contributions may be made to the Macedonia
Baptist Church or Jefferson Post 9 of the American
Legion. Cards are available at the funeral home
and the cemetery chapel.
