More detail on this person: Robert E. Hofstetter, age 87, of Salem, died Sunday, June 25th, 2017 at Doctor's Nursing Home in Salem. B ob retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Marine Corps after 25 years where he served as a Jet Fighter Pilot and Helicopter Pilot. He served one tour in Korea and three tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Marine, he worked 11 years as the maintenance manager at Means Industries. Bob was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Salem Lions Club for 30 years, Salem American Legion and the Barbershop Society for over 25 years. Funeral services for Robert E. Hofstetter will be held at 10:30 Saturday morning, July 1st, at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem. Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Visitation will be from five to seven on Friday at the funeral home. There will be military rites by the Salem American Legion. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church. Robert Hofstetter is survived by his wife: Juanita (Spangler) Hofstetter of Salem; daughter: Debra Hofstetter of Salem; sons: Robert Hofstetter Junior of Springfield and Mark Alan Hofstetter and wife Tracy of Davidson, North Carolina; sisters-in-law: Sylvia Hofstetter of Salem and Enid Hofstetter of Springfield; grandchildren: Heather, Mat, Rachel, Derrick and Haley. Robert Hofstetter was born on April 28th, 1930 in Sparta to James Arnold Hofstetter and Blanche Annis (Guittar) Hofstetter. He married Juanita Spangler on November 22nd, 1951 in Elkville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: George 'Bud' Hofstetter and James A. Hofstetter, Junior.
