More detail on this person: Captain, later Major James Walter Halley. Halley too was with 25th DivArty Aviation under Richards for about the same time frame. Both Halley and Richards had prior service as an enlisted man. Halley left Vietnam and was absolutely delighted to be reassigned to Germany in 1969.

My father died in Dade Florida while TDY. He was in a car accident on 20 July 1983, and died instantly. He was buried in Clarksville Missouri on 25 July 1983.
