Austin, TX and Dexter, MI Age 56, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 7, 2003 at the University of Michigan Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family and friends. David was born September 25, 1946 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the son of Margaret (Lawrence) Henes and Lawrence Henes. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, David served as a helicopter pilot and first lieu tenant with the 48th Assault Helicopter Company of the 101st Airborne Division of the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. After the War, he went on to a career in commercial aviation, most recently as a pilot with Spirit Airlines. David was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Henes; his sisters, Nancy Sell and Karen Rodriguez; and his cousin, Stanley Henes. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Henes of Dexter; brothers-in-law, Don ald Sell of East Jordan, MI and Rodolfo Rodriguez of Manches ter; nieces and nephews, Karen (Robert) Keast of Manchester, Theodore (Beverly) Steinbach of Dexter, Michael (Lisa) Steinbach of South Lyon, Rod (Amy) Rodriguez of Dexter, and Rachel (Robert) Arocha of Belleville; great nieces and nephews include, Ben, Thomas, and John Keast, Ryan and Renee Steinbach, and Kyle Rodriguez; many beloved aunts, cousins, and close friends. We are especially grateful to Malinda, Richard, Cindy, Malinda, and Chris Henes, Lynette and Joe Egan, Lynn and Jennifer Bensinger, Don and Jan Cole, and Dee and Dove Wilkie for the friendship and love they shared with David throughout his life. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of David's life, officiated by Rev. Gary Kwiatek, will be held 11am Saturday, September 20, 2003 at St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, 7610 Ann Arbor Street, Dexter
