More detail on this person: Larry W. Harsha Larry W. Harsha, 61, of Park Rapids, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Larry was born Nov. 15, 1948 in Park Rapids to William & Audrey Harsha. He attended elementary school in Dorset, later graduating from Park Rapids High School. Larry married Kathy Robinson in 1968. They had four children. Larry served his country, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. He piloted a scout helicopter in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart in 1970. He was honorably discharged in 1971 and returned to Minnesota to the family dairy farm in Dorset. Larry married Judy Else in 1979. Larry enjoyed reading, dairy farming, photography, hunting, cooking and everything on the Internet. He loved woodworking and constructing unique buildings. The Park Rapids area is dotted with homes he built and remodeled. He was known for curved walls and fine cabinetry. He won the Punkin' Chunkin' contest with his trebuchet in 2004. Larry loved to read the entire Sunday paper each week. He had a sharp wit and a resounding laugh. Larry's greatest source of joy in life was his family. Survivors include his wife, Judy of Park Rapids; children, Jami (Becky) Harsha of Menahga, J.J. (Dale) Olson of Detroit Lakes, Jake (Theresa) Harsha of Pequot Lakes and Jessica (Eric) Knese of St. Cloud; parents, Bill & Audrey Harsha of Park Rapids; siblings, Dan (Patty) Harsha of Park Rapids, Anni (Brad) Olson of Sebeka and Kay (Olaf) Netteberg of Nevis; 12 grandkids; his first wife Kathy Stromer of Akeley; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
