"Corky" Hagen was welcomed home by his Lord
and Savior on Jan. 4, surrounded by his family at
home.
He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, retiring
to Daleville after 20 years of service in the
Army. After being a civilian helicopter test pilot
and getting his degree, he began to teach radio
and electronics at Carroll High School, finishing
his career teaching computer electronics at Sparks
Technical College in Eufaula.
An avid deep sea fisherman, he also created many
gifts in woodwork for friends and family.
Duane's family include his wife of 60 years, Lucy,
his son, Mike and his wife Janice of Montgomery,
his son Chuck and his wife, Melanie of Florence,
his daughter, Laura, and her husband, John of
Dothan, his son, Kenny of Daleville,
grandchildren, Chris and Amanda Hagen, Josh
Hagen, Paul Hagen, Brian Hagen, Jenna and Tyler
Gresham, Justin and Emily Palmore and Elizabeth
Hagen, great grandchildren, Emerson and Cameron
Hagen, two brothers, Dean and his wife Pat and
Barry and his wife Judy, one sister Yvonne
Peterson, and special feline friend, Buddy.
Special thanks are given to the friends of the
family who provided prayers, love and support
during Duane's brief illness and to the staff of
Covenant Hospice. A celebration of his life will
be held at Fort Mitchell in Columbus, on Tuesday,
Jan 9, at 2:30 p.m. EST. In lieu of flowers, the
family has requested contributions to the American
Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
