HE WAS A GRANUATED FROM OLIVET COLLEGE IN 1976 AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS COLLEGE OF LAW IN MAY 1985. HE WORKED IN THE CHAMPAIGN COUNTY STATE`S ATTORNEY`S OFFICE FOR A YEAR WHILE HE WAS IN LAW SCHOOL. MR. HARRIS WAS A POLICE OFFICER FOR THE CITY OF CHAMPAIGN, IL. FROM 1980 TO 1982 MR.HARRIS SERVED AS A HELICOPTER PILOT IN THE U.S.ARMY IN VIETNAM,ATTAINING THE RANK OF CAPTAIN.HE WON NUMEROUS AWARDS FOR HIS SERVICE INCLUDING THE DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS,THE AIR MEDAL OF VALOR AND SIX PURPL HEARTS.
