More detail on this person: Hauser, Benjamin U.S. Veteran Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin C. Hauser (USARMY, Ret.), 72, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012. Born in 1939, Ben attended William Fleming High School in Roanoke, VA, and later graduated with a business degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. Ben married his wife of forty-seven years, and went on to establish a distinguished career as a US Army officer, followed by his employment at TASC, during which he received an achievement award. Ben built and retired to his dream home at Smith Mountain Lake, where life offered many additional roles. To friends and family he became the resident golfer, gardener, fisherman, and grill chef. To career buddies he continued to be an inspiring army officer, and a loyal employee who led by example. Most importantly, to those closest to him, he was the best of father, grandfather, husband and friend. Ben is survived by his wife, Josiane N. Hauser, and by four children and eight grandchildren. Ben and the family gratefully thank all those who were with us during the trying times. We especially thank the medical staff of the Roanoke Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit, and the nurses at Carilion Hospice for their support and expertise. We mourn Bens passing, and keep him in loving memory. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, January 19th at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Travis Gore officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Flora F.uneral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
