More detail on this person: Richard Dean Havenstrite EAST BERLIN Richard (Rick) Dean Havenstrite, 76, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Born on August 29, 1934, in E n i d , Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Harry and Velma Havenstrite. He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Shelby Lou Havenstrite; son, Richard Alan; daughters, Terri Lynn and Toni Lee; a brother, Winston Havenstrite; daughter- in-law, Ronnie Lynn Havenstrite; grandchildren, Ross Alan, Elise Nicole and Amanda Lee Havenstrite; and great-grandchildren, Era and Arsen Whan. He was predeceased by two brothers, R.B. and Max Havenstrite. Rick retired from 22 years in the Army as a helicopter pilot and instructor. During this time he served two tours in Vietnam. After leaving the military, he became a Golf Pro in Florida and then later in Georgia during which time he competed in two PGA Senior Golf Tours. Rick enjoyed fishing, gardening, scale model train collecting and was a member of the VFW in East Berlin. He was a wonderful husband and father and was always ready to offer his wit and wisdom to friends and family. The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
