More detail on this person: The Eugene Register-Guard (Eugene, OR) CRESWELL - A celebration of life will be held June 15 for Gary Hoffman of Creswell, who died June 3 of complications from a stroke. He was 55. Hoffman was born Dec. 7, 1946, in San Jose, Calif., to Michael and Janet Hoffman. He married Thea Schilling in Lake Tahoe, Nev., on Nov. 26, 1979. He graduated from the University of Washington. Hoffman was a warrant officer in the Army Ninth Air Calvary and served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. He was recognized with the Distinguished Flying Cross, a Bronze Star and the Air Medal as well as other awards. Hoffman worked in hotel management in California, Washington and Oregon. He moved to this area from California 23 years ago. Survivors include his wife; his father of San Jose; three sons, Michael Rounds of Las Vegas, Ron Schilling of Creswell and Michael Schilling of Springfield; a daughter, Angela Holmes of Roseburg; a brother, Randy of Acushnet, Mass.; a sister, Suzanne Reynolds of Vancouver, Wash.; and eight grandchildren. The June 15 celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. at 3542 Westward Ho Ave. in Eugene. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
