More detail on this person: Maj Richard Myrle Hogan Funeral services for Maj. Richard Myrle "Ben" Hogan, 76, Donna, Texas, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Military graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hogan died Friday, March 23, 2007, in Donna. He was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Neodesha, the son of Roland Roy and Alma Lenor Mills Hogan. He moved to Lawrence in the 1940s and attended Lawrence High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Naval Reserves in Olathe. Mr. Hogan served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He attended Officer Candidates School, graduating in 1958, and attended flight and helicopter training, where he earned his senior wings. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Oak Leaf Clusters to the Air Medal and an Army Commendation medal for outstanding service during his three tours in Vietnam. He also received a Silver Star from the Vietnamese. He married Mildred L. Ice on Sept. 10, 1949. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Dix, Pueblo West, Colo., and Virginia Lee Conard, Lawrence; a brother, Bill, Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Eva Colleen Wilson, Topeka; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
