More detail on this person: Our beloved husband, father and Opa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 7th at the age of 76. Harvey was born in Houston, Texas on September 23, 1942. The youngest of three children, Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annie Hueter and his older brother, F. August Hueter, Jr, . Harvey is survived by his wife of forty-one years Pat Hueter. His sister in law, Martha Wemett Hueter, his older sister, Corrine (James) Stanley, his four children: Sherie (Ben) Schoenbaum, Charles Hueter, Kelley (Travis) Mumford, Katie (Grant) Casey, six grandchildren: Savannah, Paloma, Kallie and Mikel "Mac", Mazer and Annabel. Harvey attended Garden Oaks Elementary, Alexander Hamilton Junior High, and John H. Reagan High Schools in Houston. Summers during High School, Harvey worked in the Houston Union Station for the Houston Belt and Terminal Railway as a Mail and Baggage Clerk. Harvey graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1965 with a BBA degree in Finance, and from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida, 1979, with a Master of Science degree in Management. After graduation from the University of Texas, Harvey was recruited by the Shell Oil Company of Houston and was employed there as an accountant. In May of 1966 Harvey received a direct commission, as Second Lieutenant, in the US Army. Following Basic Training at Fort Sam Houston, Lieutenant Hueter was selected for flight school, and after training at Fort Wolters, Texas and Fort Rucker, Alabama, he graduated in 1967 as an Army Aviator. Lieutenant Hueter served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter ambulance "Dust Off' pilot. In Vietnam he flew over 1,600 combat hours and flew over 900 missions. Harvey also served two tours in West Germany, a tour in Belgium, and tours in Washington, D.C., Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Fort Lewis Washington, and Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Harvey retired at Fort Knox, Kentucky, as a full Colonel with over thirty years of active duty service. His decorations include: The Legion of Merit (two awards), the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star (two awards), the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), the Purple Heart, the Air Medal (thirty two awards), the Army Commendation Medal (four awards, one award with "V" device), the Army Achievement Medal and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. Colonel Hueter wore the Army's Senior Aviator Badge. While stationed in Heidelberg, West Germany, Harvey met Pat Meisner, and it was "love at first sight". After dating for three years, Harvey and Pat were married in April, 1978 at the Walter Reed Base Chapel in Washington, D.C. In 1996, Pat and Harvey retired to his parents hometown of New Braunfels, Texas. In 2002, Harvey enrolled in the Alamo Area Police Academy, graduating in 2003. He accepted a position as Deputy Sheriff, Comal County, Texas the same year and served Comal County until health issues dictated his retirement in 2015. Deputy Hueter retired with the title of Master Peace Officer. From 2005 until his passing, Harvey, Pat and their Yellow Lab, "Ranger", made their home in Sattler, Texas on 10 acres along the banks of the Guadalupe River. Harvey's interests included hunting, fishing, golf, serving as a Wurstfest Opa, enjoying his children, his six wonderful grandchildren, and a serious fascination with railroads. Visitation will take place on May 20th at 3:00 with a memorial service to follow at 4:00 at the Sattler Branch of Doeppenschmidt's Funeral Home. A private interment will be at Mountain Valley Cemetery in Sattler, Texas. Harvey requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the USO, The Wounded Warrior Project, or the Comal County 100 Club.
