More detail on this person: HALEY, PHILLIP WAYNE HALEY, PHILLIP WAYNE, age 66, departed this life on Friday, May 9, 2008, in the surroundings of family, friends and the loving nurses of Hospice of West Alabama. Phillip was born May 9, 1942, to the late Robert and Lucile Haley of Birmingham. Phillip's love of Christ and others meant that he never met a stranger. He looked for and always found the good in everyone. He was a member of Cottondale Church of Christ whose fellowship he cherished. Phillip was a loving and dedicated husband who loved spending time with his wife. He especially loved fishing with her in the late afternoons. He loved his three sons and his grandkids so much. Whether it was playing golf, fishing, or watching his grandkids play baseball, he loved being with his family. He loved to play golf with his children and friends. He graduated from the University of Alabama and served as a Captain in the Air Force from 1968-1975. He flew F4 fighter planes in the Air National Guard in Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Anita Haley; sons, Jeff Haley (wife Nedrea), Rodney Haley (wife Alyson) and Jason Haley all from Hoover AL; five grandchildren, Carson, Major, Brooks, Davis and Jacob; one sister, Barbara Sims of Burnsville NC. The celebration of his life will be at noon on Monday, May 12, 2008 at Cottondale Church of Christ in Tuscaloosa Alabama. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Minister Clark Sims will be officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Haley, Mike Haley, Jack Haley, Richard Rucks, Joe Haley, Wayne Pugh, Sammy Smoke, Jack Waldrop, Martin A. Maners Jr., Martin Maners and Shep Maners. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of West Alabama and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to them at the following address; 3851 Loop Rd. Tuscaloosa AL 35404.
