More detail on this person: WILLIAM AUGUSTUS STRONG HAMMERSTROM WILLIAM AUGUSTUS STRONG HAMMERSTROM Was a Vietnam-era Marine Corps pilot William Augustus Strong Hammerstrom, 60, died Sept. 23, 2007. Born in Cleveland, he was a Hudson resident for 10 years, a Vietnam-era Marine Corps pilot and a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Willoughby, where he had been a former First Reader. He was a senior vice-president with AultCare in Canton. Mr. Hammerstrom was an avid fisherman and served as past-president of the Northeast Ohio West Point Parents' Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Henry Hammerstrom. He is survived by Phyliss, his wife of 33 years; son and daughter-in-law William Henry (Gretchen Buchanan) Hammerstrom of Stow; grandson Lucian Strong Hammerstrom; daughter Anne Margit Hammerstrom; mother Ruth Hammerstrom of Cleveland; sister Margit O. Hammerstrom of Cambridge, Mass.; and aunt Dorcas Strong of Cleveland. Calling hours and a memorial were at Redmon Funeral Home. Gifts may be made to the Hudson Library and Historical Society, 96 Library Street, Hudson in his name, for a collection of books on military history.
