More detail on this person: His exact name is William Harlan Herrig II and he was a Chief Warrant Officer (CW2) and was a Cobra Pilot (AH-1G). His exact date of death was 3-13-79. He suffered great pain and failing bodily functions from the broken back injury he received when he was shot down over Laos and that led him to take his own life in 1979. He received quite a few awards for saving his Gunner on his ship after a shoot down. He carried him several miles to a nearby firebase despite his own injuries.
