More detail on this person: Allan W. "Sonny" Hopkins, 83 of White Plains, Maryland, died June 19, 2016.

Sonny was a retired major with the United States Air Force, having served from 1953-1974. Following his Air Force retirement, he worked for the U. S. Census Bureau for 20 years. He was a docent at Udvar-Hazy Center for the Air and Space Museum. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, Maryland and life-long Boston Red Sox fan. He loved everything to do with aviation and was an excellent artist and could fix anything.

He was the son of Allan R. S. Hopkins and Stella Tucker Hopkins.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Bernier Hopkins; his daughter, Lana Beattie and husband John; his son, Allan M. Hopkins and wife Sarah; his brother, Roger Hopkins; his grandchildren, Christopher Beattie and wife Janette and Jonathan Beattie; and his great-granddaughter, Caroline Beattie.

Friends received on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, Maryland 20675. Interment with full Air Force Honors to follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata, Maryland.
