More detail on this person: F-4 Jets Collide, Killing 2 Pilots YUMA The mid-air collision of two Marine Corps jet fighters near Yuma Monday afternoon was witnessed by a Yuma County sheriffs deputy, who said one of the planes banked directly into the path of the other. The crash killed both pilots, M a j . Michael Hynes, 33, of Latham, N.Y., and Capt. Daniel Daughtery, 29, of Philadelphia. Two radar intercept officers who were riding in tandem seats in each jet parachuted from the planes but were injured. They were identified as Maj. John Cummings, 41, of Walton County, Fla., and Lt. Jeffrey Ulatowski, 24, of Milwaukee. Cummings was under observation Tuesday at the Marine Corps Air Station infirmary. Ulatowski was being treated at the San Diego Naval Hospital. Both men were reported in good condition. The two planes were part of a three-jet team circling the air station here in preparation for a landing. Marine Corps officials said no live ammunition was aboard the two planes.
