More detail on this person: My father entered flight school as a captain and served in Vietnam in at least two units, (I think in 71-72, although he is listed in the E troop annual for 70-71 so he may have been in the country for 70-71). His units were: E troop 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry; and Delta of the 227. In each outfit he flew cobra gun-ships and he went by the call sign "Harvey" after the drink Harvey Wallbanger. I do not remember the exact dates he flew in each outfit but those are the ones he talked about. Also, I recently came across his reward for being the first to solo in his flight class. It is a trophy cup with his flight class name on it and the notation "first solo" and the handles are made out of ceramic "pin-up" girls. My mom mentioned that someone there at the flight school made the trophies but I don't recall the name.
