More detail on this person: It is with great sadness and deep regret that I received a call today, 6 March 2023 from Sheila Inks, Tom's wife, who informed me that Tom passed away on Friday, 3 March 2023 at 2:34PM following a period of hospitalization. As you may recall, Tom had heart replacement surgery many years ago but his heart could no longer sustain his life. Tom would have been 83 on 28 March. All of us that knew Tom and served with him will miss him greatly. We admired his professionalism and devotion to duty that his life represented. But, since the loss to you is most direct and personal, I wanted to send you these words of sincere sympathy upon the death of a loyal friend and fellow soldier. Tom was in Officer Rotary Wing Aviator Course (ORWAC) Class 67-4 and was one of the original members of the 3/17th Air Cav Squadron that formed at Fort Knox in early 1967 and deployed to Vietnam in September of 1967. He was the Troop "C" Aero Scout Commander in Vietnam when he was seriously wounded in December of 1967. He was subsequently medically retired from active duty. He was an active member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, California North Chapter. Memorial services have not yet been finalized but are tentatively planned for April 2023. I will provide you the time, date and location of his memorial services as soon as possible. Please keep his family in your prayers as we mourn the loss of our brother and dear friend.
