More detail on this person: Robert "Bob" Ray Jones, 77, of Kansas City Missouri went home to be with his Lord on Friday April 17th, 2020. Bob was born July 6th, 1942 in Nevada Missouri to Albert and Lillian Jones. As a young boy, Robert was apart of the Columbus Boys Choir in Princeton, New Jersey from 1953-1956 singing to the audiences of Ed Sullivan and Burl Ives. Bob had appearances on the Hallmark TV-special -Amal and The Night Visitor. A graduate of the 1960 class of North High in Wichita, Kansas, Bob earned his Bachelor's degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Bob started his military career in the army where he served two tours in Vietnam from 1968 through 1970 as a Warrant Officer, 1st LT, and Captain. Bob took a lot of pride calling the US Army his career for twenty years retiring as a Major and earning many awards: DFC, CM (twice), AM (34 times), Meritorious Service, PH, BS (twice). Bob had his second retirement from the Kansas City International Airport after 32 years of working in the EPA division. His hobbies included working on stained glass, collecting Missouri Pacific Railroad memorabilia, singing in the church choir, working puzzles, playing the keyboard, and playing the lotto (but never winning). Bob was also very active in his grandchildren's school, attendings all of sporting events and volunteering. Bob was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Barton. Bob's Celebration of Life was on April 17th, 2021 with a 21-gun salute and helicopter flyover. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Kitten Jones, daughter Angela (Rob) Smith, and grandchildren Jack and Maddie Smith.
