More detail on this person: Teddy Franklin Jenkins, 84, of Paris died Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Morningside Assisted Living in Paris after a long illness. A memorial service will be announced later by Ridgeway Funeral Home. Jenkins was born June 10, 1934, in Springfield, Mo. to the late Roy Franklin and Vivian Gladys Jenkins. He was married to Ruthie Harnish, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark (Erica) Jenkins and Melody (Eric) Fried; and four grandchildren, Halil (Brandon) Averbeck, Holden Fried, and Will and Roy Jenkins. Jenkins graduated from Grove High School in 1952 and enlisted with the Army in 1955. His first post was at the Presidio in San Francisco, and he met his wife there. In 1962, he was accepted to flight school and became a highly decorated helicopter pilot during two tours in Vietnam. His awards included the Distinguished Flying Cross (for heroism in military flight - the U.S. Army's highest honor for aviators), Bronze Star, Air Medal for Heroism, eight additional air medals, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Army Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. While serving in the military, Jenkins also completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in history and education.
