More detail on this person: Colonel Charles B. Jones, U.S. Army, Retired, passed away in Marksville, LA, on 18 December 2022. Colonel Jones entered the Army as and enlisted man and served a tour of duty with the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam in 1965-66. He subsequently graduated from the Warrant Officer flight program and flew with the 61st AHC in 1968-69. Following this tour he received a commission in the Signal Corps and became rated as an air traffic control officer and a fixed wing aviator. He subsequently served as an air traffic control company commander, as the operations officer for Davison Army Airfield (DUSAA), Ft. Belvoir, VA, as and air traffic control battalion commander, and as a US Army representative to the US Embassy in the Republic of the Philippines . Colonel Jones was a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the USAF Air War College and served his final assignment as the US Army representative to the Air War College. Upon retirement Colonel Jones moved to his hometown of Marksville, LA where he served as a teacher, basketball coach, vice principal and principal of the Marksville High School. After retirement from that position, he served on the local city council and then as president (CEO) of the Avoyelles Parish, LA. His entire adult life was dedicated to the service of his country and his community.
